The MG Tennis Academy junior coaching program at Manning Tennis Club is run in a fun and enthusiastic atmosphere where kids learn to develop fundamental motor skills not just for tennis but for life.
All players will be guided through their tennis journey by the MG Tennis Academy program pathway. With every player receiving a report at the end of each term to highlight their achievement’s. Weather your starting from a before school tennis club or playing for the first time at the club, MG Tennis Academy player pathway will guide to your next step in tennis.
MG Tennis Academy offers a variety of adult coaching courses, from Adult Beginners to the high energy Cardio Tennis session. Our structured course’s give players step by step instructions with a different teaching point each week.

With smaller courts, shorter racquets, and lower bouncing balls, young players will achieve and feel successful at tennis right from the start.
MG Tennis Academy is split into 3 colour stages.
Red Ball – Serve, Rally and Scoring
Orange Ball – Developing a rounded game
Green Ball – Putting your skills to the test
All group coaching sessions have a 1:6 player coach ratio and a maximum participation, high energy environment. Each player will learn not just the correct technique but also tactical awareness too. Racquets will be provided on the day for those who don’t have one.
Red Ball Tennis is for players aged 8 and under. Players learn to serve, rally and score with a slow ball, as well as learning the movement and co-ordination skills needed for tennis. .
The Tennis journey starts with the red level. Red Balls are felt , are larger, bounce lower and travel slower than the standard yellow ball making it easier to learn and acquire skills.
Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Red and is for players aged 8 and 9. Players develop a rounded game learning a range of techniques and tactics.
Orange balls travel through the air a little faster and further than the red ball, but are the same size and still bounce lower than a yellow ball.
This is for 10-year-olds who are ready to test their skills on a full-size court. Our approach to helping children into the sport makes it far easier for them to develop their skills and progress with their tennis.
Green balls have a slightly reduced bounce compared to the yellow ball making the transition to a full-size court much easier.
Junior Squads are for players aged 12+ and for those progressing from Green Ball. Players will learn to develop both techniques and tactics skills which will help them with their transition from the Green to Yellow ball. They will also learn about different ball characteristics and game situations.
C Squad – For Beginner players and those looking to progressing from Green Ball
B Squad – For players competing in the Junior Pennants Competition and progressing from C Squad.
A Squads – Advanced players looking to take their tennis to the next level and progressing from B Squad.
Our popular and highly successful Performance Squads offer a pathway for players competing at competition level. The squads are run but qualified coaches and structured to get the most out of all the players using carefully though-out lesson plans which are in line with the ITF.
